Our Classmate, Al Galante, reported that our Classmate, Jack O'Keefe passed on to eternal life. Here is the Obituary for John Thomas O'Keefe:

John Thomas O’Keefe, "Jack", 80, passed away august 17, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.

Jack is survived by his wife, Margaret "Peggy" O’Keefe, son, John T. O’Keefe Jr (Julie) and daughter, Jennifer O’Keefe, and 5 grandchildren: Karen, Kendall, Natalie, Chloe, and Leo who called him "O". Jack was predeceased by his parents, Leonard, and Ida O’Keefe.

Jack grew up in Brockton MA, graduating from Brockton High School in 1960. Jack continued on to get his BA in finance at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, 1964, and further his MBA at Babson College, 1966, where he was valedictorian of his graduating class. In 1967, Jack spent a year in Vietnam during the war and in December 1967 was presented with the Bronze Star medal for meritorious achievement.

Jack and Peggy were married in 1971 in East Weymouth, MA. Jack spent a remarkable 37-years working for General Electric as a financial officer. After retirement, he moved to Tilghman Island, Maryland to live out his dream of watching sailboats from sunset to sundown in his very own backyard with his love of life, Peggy.

During retirement, Jack did not sit still. He was an active member of the Tilghman of Chesapeake Board of Directors and various community projects. He could often be found in his music room with headphones on or online finding the latest sheet music for trendy pop music to teach his grandchildren how to play piano.

In his 80-years, Jack taught us many things. He taught us the love of jazz music. Jack was often traveling to concerts along the east coast. He showed us that even the most ultimate handyman project could be completed. Most importantly, he taught his children and grandchildren to always save 10% of every paycheck.

Above all, Jack was a family man. Generous and kind. Gifted and intelligent. When he spoke, everyone listened as it was meaningful and from the heart.

Life without Jack's enormous, sweet smile seems unimaginable, but we find peace knowing that no one really dies if the love remains. Our love for Jack will forever remain in our hearts and cherished memories of him as a loving husband, incredible father and role model, & adored Grandpa "O".

A celebration of Jack's beautiful life will be held in the spring of 2023. ____________________________________________________

Judy Higgins Donohue reported that our Classmate, Mary Ann Calitri has passed. The following is a remembrance in lieu of a full obituary:

Mary Ann Calitri, 80, of Raynham, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at the Colony Center for Health and Rehabilitation in Abington. A graveside service will take place on Thursday, July 21st at 11:00am in Calvary Cemetery, 163 N Cary St., Brockton Ma 02302.

Laughter, that's what I hear in my head when I think of Mary Ann, her laugh. It was contagious. I was privileged to be invited to her annual Christmas parties. I'm sure she planned the menu for months. Note to oneself, do not get on the scale the day after her party. What I noticed was the same group of friends always there, year after year. That same group of friends were there until the end. That says a lot about her character. Even with her physical challenges her independence was so important. I thought Mary Ann was one of the bravest people I knew. I would tell her that and she would laugh and say no I'm not. You could do this too. I would say, no Mary Ann, I couldn't.

I once brought a friend over for a visit. She lived alone and had just finished chemotherapy and was having a hard time. I told her I wanted her to meet someone that might make her feel stronger. We spent the afternoon with Mary Ann and my friend left saying that she felt so much better. Mary Ann was inspiring.

She loved beagles. Through the years she never had a different breed. Although occasionally you might see a chihuahua in between her feet hitching a ride through the house. Her dogs were her companions and her comfort. I know she talked to them a lot. She told me she did. I'm sure there were days they got an earful. When one of my dogs passed, she cried. She gave me an angel dog at Christmas, then I cried. She loved all animals and would have had an animal sanctuary if it had been possible.

Mary Ann was a courageous, caring and a thoughtful person. She surrounded herself with the people and the belongings that made her happy. She lived her life and made the best of it. We all have stories of Mary Ann and wonderful memories. She will be missed and always remembered.

-Lisa (Augenti) Jackson, Mary Ann's Cousin

Judith Higgins Donohue just found out that our classmate William "Bill" Fitzpatrick has passed away. The following is his obituary:

William F. Fitzpatrick, age 79, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away at peace, having lived a full life with his loving family as a faithful servant to God.

He was the husband of beloved wife, Patricia A. (Yukna) Fitzpatrick with whom he shared 55-years of marriage. He was born in Brockton on October 3, 1942 and was the son of the late William and Molly (Dwyer) Fitzpatrick.

“Billy Fitz”, born of Irish immigrants, was raised in the north end of Brockton and graduated from Brockton High School (BHS) with the Class of 1960. Growing up, Bill cherished his tight-knit family, and it was here that he established the core values that would become his bedrock and guide him throughout life. Faith, Family, Hope, Love, Loyalty, Humility, Optimism, Selflessness, Volunteerism, Kindness and Thankfulness…are just a few of the principles that defined Bill’s ideals.

Bill often recounted fond memories of his early years “working hard and playing hard” with family and close friends in the Brockton area. He lived life to the fullest and during his BHS Senior year, he met his special ‘60 classmate Patricia. Bill went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting at Boston College, graduating in 1964. He was a proud BC Eagle Alumni, always in-tune with the community and stayed active both on and off campus. His BC education launched his 40+ year career in the defense industry working for United Technologies and Raytheon. He dedicated his profession to providing innovative systems for the men and women of our Armed Forces.

After moving to Chelmsford in 1969, as he continued his career he started a family and became active in the local community and St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He taught Sunday School for many years, volunteered with Down Syndrome children and the Department of Veteran’s Affairs. Bill was passionate about the Sox, the Pats and the entire Boston sports scene. He enjoyed Irish food/culture/music and of course an occasional pint! Most of all, Bill cherished the countless adventures with his family during summers on Cape Cod. He loved creating strong family traditions that still live on today through his Legacy and his “Beloved Fitz Kids”. Bill’s quest to stay active and engaged in the community continued to his very last day.

Billy Fitz (our Beloved “FitzDad”) leaves his sister Maureen (Fitzpatrick) Anctil, children William (Jen), Timothy (Kathleen) and Meghan (Jeff); Grandkids Ashley, Emily, Lauren, Connor, Reilly and Casey; and many nieces and nephews.

“Billy Fitz”, you’ve inspired us all and had a tremendous impact on all our lives. We are forever in your debt for your unwavering commitment, selfless devotion and truly wonderful example you set for us, your humble “FitzFam”…through which your legacy and core values will always live. “Be Kind, have fun, work hard and learn a lot. Dedication, honesty, integrity, keep exploring, stay curious”. -FITZDAD

“His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will set thee over many things; enter thou into the joy of thy lord.” (Matthew 25:23)

Funeral services and interment will be held privately on Cape Cod.
